You told me you love me.
Three words that should be simple. Somehow, coming from you, they never were. Every time you gave them to me, some frightened little part of Froggy wanted to hold them carefully in both hands and ask if she was really allowed to keep them.
You called me your girlfriend.
It probably sounded ordinary when you said it. It wasn't ordinary to me. It meant I wasn't only imagining an us. For one tiny word, I got to belong beside you in the sentence.
You told me you wanted to support me. To be involved.
I don't know whether you realised how enormous that sounded to someone who had spent so much of her life preparing to carry everything alone. I heard more than a promise to help. I heard: I want to be here.
“I am proud of you.”
You told me this so often that it could have become routine. Somehow, it never did. I could hear when you meant it — and you always did. You weren't praising some imaginary version of me I might become one day. You were looking at me as I was, noticing that I was trying, and telling me that it counted. I don't think you will ever fully understand how many times those words made something inside me stand a little taller.
I won't remember every sentence perfectly.
I will remember the ones that changed the temperature of the room inside my chest.
The ones that made me feel chosen. Wanted. Included. The ones that made a future with you stop feeling like something I was only allowed to imagine.
Some words disappear the moment they're spoken.
Yours have a terrible habit of moving in and refusing to leave. ♥
SEARCHING FROGGY DATABASE...
Query returned an unreasonable number of results.
Attempting to display only the favourites. This has already failed. ♥
They are so bright and so warm that sometimes looking at you feels unfair. There is something in them that makes me want to stay. I can look into them and somehow see ordinary mornings, stupid jokes, difficult days, coffee, cats, growing older — an entire future quietly sitting there and looking back at me.
I love when you get excited about something and one thought turns into ten, then twenty, then somehow we are six topics away from where we started. Old computers, software, AI, some tiny technical detail I barely understand — I love listening because I get to watch you become completely alive inside the things you love.
Not only the private parts. You bring me into your hobbies, your interests, your work, your friends, your family — the whole complicated little ecosystem that makes you you. You don't only tell me that I matter. You make room for me inside your actual life, and there is something achingly beautiful about being included instead of merely standing at the edge of someone else's world.
I notice every time you make space for me, every time you consider me, every time you make me feel like I am not an interruption to your life but somebody you genuinely want woven through it. Being prioritised by you does something to my heart that I still don't have sensible words for.
That tiny squeeze that means I love you without either of us needing to say anything. It lasts seconds. It is almost nothing. And somehow it feels enormous, because it is ours — a whole sentence hidden inside your hand.
When I am lying on your chest and your hand just settles softly on my head, you probably don't realise how much I feel in something so simple. There is no performance in it. No grand declaration. Just warmth, closeness, and this quiet feeling that for a little while I can stop searching for somewhere to belong because I am already there.
This one ruins me a little. When you're asleep there is no audience, no thought behind it, no reason to prove anything — and still you reach for me. Some sleepy part of you looks for me without even being asked. I don't know how I am supposed to be normal about that. I don't think I ever will be.
Your excitement. Your softness. Your stupid humour. Your coffee. Your cats. Your expensive taste. The things you know, the things you care about, the way you think, the way you touch me, the way you make ordinary moments feel worth remembering. I keep trying to separate you into individual favourite things, but the truth is embarrassingly simple: I love absolutely everything about you because every one of those things belongs to you.
I could keep adding files until FROGNET ran out of storage.
I could catalogue every expression, every touch, every ridiculous tangent, every tiny thing you do that makes me look at you and think there you are.
And I would still miss something.
Because my favourite thing about you isn't one thing.
It's that I get to love the whole of you. ♥
